What fuel does the car use? Start by checking the fuel pump inside the tank. The tank filter may be partially choked.

My car is having a strange problem. Two days back, while going to office the car won't start. The engine would crank but won't start. When I returned from office, the car started fine.
Today however the same problem occurred. Engine cranked but wont start. I went out and when I came back after 2 hours, the engine started normally. Took to mechanic but he said while starting normally its difficult to diagnose. He will check when the problem re-occurs. I had replaced car key sensors two months back for the same problem.

Check the fuel cap. If the hole in the cap is choked, that will prevent air from entering the tank and may result in partial vacuum and no fuel will flow. This normally happens when the car cools down after a decent ride.

Need Help with my Predicament:
Dear Folks,
I own a Tata Hexa XTA 2018. off late my keys get stuck in ignition after i turn off the engine. Sometimes it comes out immediately and sometimes it takes 10-15 min. I always carry the spare key. When the key doesnt come out, I leave it there and manually lock the door with the spare one. after 30-40 min i go back again and voila, the stuck key comes out smoothly. Then I lock my car using the central lock button and all is good. I had got it repaired in TASS and all was working fine for a month till last week.
My key got stuck. As usual, i left the key stuck in ignition and locked the car manually with the spare one. But the problem starts here now.... i got engrossed so much in office that i forgot to go down and pull out the key and lock it using the central key button. my bad, i left the keys stuck in ignition for 7 days straight!!!! Today, when i went to the parking, opened the door with manual key, pulled out the stuck key, pushed it back again, now the car is not starting. In fact the normal MID is screen is not displaying anything, the radio is not switching on. I cant even change gear after pressing the brake pedal. the LED that keeps blinking when the central lock is on is now, not blinking. Is my battery dead? Please help and suggest. My apartment parking is in minus 2 level so getting is loaded on a tow truck is not possible.

Definitely your battery is dead. Modern day car keys continuously communicate with the car, if they are in the vicinity and this will do a parasitic discharge. Simply keeping it nearby will wake up all sort of modules.
Happened with me, I had forgot to take out the keys from the car while I was supposed to travel for a week, not only my car battery was dead, but the battery of the FOB was also showing low on the MID, once I charged the car battery.

Yes, you are correct. Thanks a ton for your response. Called up Tata Motors helpline and sent a mechanic in 30 min. He jump started the car and said that i must replace the battery. Its almost dead and may work for another month of so.
He also gave me solution of my car key getting stuck in ignition. He said that there's a small spring inside the ignition which may have gotten lose or lost its strength. He can check and resolve the issue for 2-3K rs. I said TASS saif that they will change the entire lock for 12K. The mechanic said, yes, Authorized service centres do not really go deep and investigate. they usually call for entire part replacement.
Who do you guys suggest I should od here?
Replace it before the key getting repeatedly stuck causes the key to break and get lodged inside the keyhole. Happened with our car once, and trust me it's not a predicament you would like yourself to be in. See if this part is available in Boodmo, and get it replaced at an FNG.

Seems like its a blessing in disguise by Tata to help you from police snatching your key out.:uncontrol

Either way, you are getting ripped off. Outside mechanics check these things for free. Resolution should be max less than half of what he quoted.
Is yours an automatic or manual?
In automation transmission cars, there's a solenoid in the gear shift that prevents the key coming out till you put in Park.
If that solenoid fails, the key will get stuck, requiring the full shifter assembly to be replaced.

Off - Topic but that reminds me of this small button below the steering column in my Contessa which needs to be pressed for removing the key from Ignition. People who have not driven a Contessa before, struggle and pull the key in desperation but it wont come out until you press that button:coldsweat

Thanks! you are right. luckily, the issues seems to auto resolve. for last 1 month, i haven't faced any issue.
But if i face it again, i am thinking to give this a go. what do you guys say.
