Soda Blasting in Bangalore: Strip any coating from any surface

A Bangalore based company - www.nulookrestorers.com - has ventured into the arena of coating removal, using the 'Soda blasting' process.

As stated by the company:

Quote:
Conventional methods of stripping / cleaning use acids & chemicals or abrasives and can be laborious and time consuming. Soda blasting uses specially treated Soda (benign pH 8.2) or Kieserite (Neutral pH 7) which are very soft (2.8 / 3.5 on the Mohs scale) and friable, and are designed to be tough on the contaminate and gentle on the substrate. This ensures that the base material is never damaged or profiled, a very important factor when removing paint from auto body parts (metal or plastic or composites) or degreasing engine parts.

The water solubility of these media ensures that there is no residue left in narrow passage ways like the insides of a carb or radiator fins as it can just be rinsed away. The softness of the medium also ensures that it doesn't damage glass, rubber seals and bearings. Hence, there will be no need to entirely disassemble a vehicle. The process is fast and can clean / strip areas which cannot be reached by a brush (e.g. radiator fins).
Services offered:

1. Paint stripping of car body paint, either to the primer or the base metal. NuLook process does not warp or profile the metal and can strip paint layer by layer.

2. Paint stripping of plastic parts like bumpers etc.

3. Engine degreasing.

4. Glass cleaning.

5. Paint stripping from wheels rims.

6. Cleaning of radiator fins.

7. Pistons, cylinder carbon removal.

Nice! this would be super useful for restorer's especially. I am curious to know about the glass cleaning service, is it something to do with hard water mark removal and stuff or more (like scratch removal)?

How does it differentiate between graffiti and actual paint? (The Toyota hatch).

It does not, any kind of blasting, bead / glass / sand / soda works on the same principle. the material used to blast differs based on the parent material and the amount of clean up and end result you want to achieve

I guess soda is the least abrasive of the lot and to remove graffiti and things like that is not soda but the skill of the person using it

No, it will add to more scratches, think of it like a sandpaper with fine level of 2000-3000 odd grit or maybe more

Not sure if it is the same but Wet / Vapour blasting is the least abrasive of it all. Correct me if I am wrong?

Yes, how vapour blasting is more a de-greasing and cleaning procedure; not something you will use for abrasively remove material

Like: Engine cases, carb internals etc I would use Vapour

Abrasive Blast: for sheet metal, frame parts etc
