NHC Rev constricted

My NHC CVT cuts out at 5500rpm whereas the redline starts at 6000 and ends at 7000rpm. I have observed this from the time that i have got the car which is about 2 years now,have never been able to pull it till the red line. Even when i rev it in N(neutral) it cuts out at 5500 rpm. Is this common to all NHC CVT's or am i the only one facing this problem?
