Regular services usually include :

1. Engine Oil change.
2. Brake Fluid top up
3. Power steering fluid top up (Alto, i think has EPS so not required)
4. Air filter cleaning (replacement if it's too dirty)
5. Electrical check (indicators, headlight, power windows, power mirrors etc)
6. Brake pad check (needs to be cleaned if theres brake dust deposit).
7. Complete car wash/clean
8. Coolant check
9. Air pressure check
10. Wheel allignment/balancing/rotation (if you feel the car veers to one side or if steering vibrates at high speeds. Rotation is a must though.)

This is how my car is serviced.

Information about service schedules, things to be taken care of in each service, and - stuff that you should be doing regularly, are all in the owners manual.

RTFM = Read The Full Manual

rotation means rotating ALL tyres including the spare to keep tread wear to minimum and extend tyre life and give more grip on road.
with regular rotation one can diagnose some severe suspension problems in its initial stage which can thus be rectified with least botheration!

shan2nu has covered almost everything in those 10 point strategy! nice.

but imho, one should also check the condition of all wiper blades. with time they bound to get deteriorated and might cause scratches on glass.

also one should make it a point to get PUC checked, and renewed if required, at every service.

Gear Box Oil every 5000 K...Oil in the Gear Box lasts around 1 Lakh Kms, Some cars don't even need Gear Oil Changes...For a long long time..!

Could you list any car company that asks to replace Gear Oil in 5000 K..!

Ooops Sorry guys Tpyo I meant 50,000Kms left out 1 zero, Thats what my maruti service station said, but my mechanic recomends that i change it once every 15,000kms, as there is alot of gear shifting in bombay. so i kinda do this once a year.

Cars get their engine oil changed every 5K or 10K kms. 50K is for the gearbox oil.
