Yes IMO. In my Swift, I need to come below 10 kmph for the 1st gear to slot without any drama. Slightly higher and resistance is too much and feels like the shifter will break.

Same with the linea, but a light tap.on the throttle just before moving into gear makes it smooth in my case.

Doesn't shifting into 1st gear while in motion reduce life of Synchroniser?

If I have to shift to 1st gear while in motion (speed <10-15km/H) for any reason, I bring the vehicle to complete stop (atleast bring the speed <3-5kph) and then shift to 1st gear. I know

In general shifting to 1st gear under 10kmph should not cause any damage to the synchroniser! This limt may vary with each car, depending on how tall the first gear is!

I guess shifting down to 1st from higher speeds may put some strain on the synchroniser but it still may not damage the synchroniser, however this may put some load on the gear itself!

Experts, correct me if I am wrong.
