BBC Video: Building Cars at the MINI Plant (Oxford) with James May

Video: Watch how a MINI is made at the Oxford plant along with James May where a brand new car rolls out every 68 seconds. This is BBC Live making cars and the three presenters follow the process in real time.

Pressing, welding, even the ever secretive paint booth, Assembly, design, prototyping, testing, transportation, its all there.

And there are visits to the plants of Toyota, Nissan, Morgan, McLaren, Aston Martin, and JLR as well.

Part 1:

Part 2:

I just finished watching the video, it really long, but gives an incredible insight. Must watch!

Re: BBC Video: Building Cars at the MINI Plant (Oxford) with James May

Just finished with the 1st part. It was something ! It was also fun to watch James May contribute to a defect . It's such a joy to watch machines work and create something so complex in a matter of minutes and hours. Gives a whole new perspective of looking at a car. And even though they may look alike every car is still different (as in has a different soul because so much effort goes into making one). If I ever had the opportunity of viewing my next car while it is being made I would probably have so much more respect for it's humanness that I would start talking to it !
