Hi Folks/ and all technical gurus,
My Octi RS just finished 20000. The cruise control system which i so fondly use on the toll road did'nt work today. I checked the manual for fuses, but apparantly there is a fuse for everything but cruise control. Although the car is under warranty, I'm scared to take to the showroom. God knows how much they'll rip me off. Skoda A.S.S is not news.
Does anyone have any idea as to what could have happened. That way atleast they'll not try to fool me. The third service is due in 500 kms.
Please advise,, and fast..
Thanks,
dMH

OK stupid as this question may be.. is there a manual override for the OD like there is on the L&K? If so was it off.. coz the same thing happened to my Dad on the expressway once and I had a hearty laugh at his expence.. had the manual override thats located on the indicator side turned off..

Frankly, hows the question stupid , i have no clue. And i don't know what OD is. The Cruise control switch is turned on and when i use the slider or the SET button to activate the system or maintain a fixed speed, nothing happens. The car starts slowing down instead of maintaining that speed.

dMH, here is a link I got from Google. It may help but I think that this is something that you should get the dealer to check ASAP. A malfunctioning cruise control system may lead to dangerous situations if it suddenly starts to acclerate the car when you dont want it to.

1. http://www.popularmechanics.com/auto...tml?page=1&c=y

2. a BMW owner bemoans his car's curise control failure -- but not much help from other forum members here!!!!

Good luck,

Ravi.

Hey I am quite sure it's only fuse blown. Check your manual once again and check all the fuses in the fuse panel in the dash as well as inside the engine compartment (over the battery). If all fuses are ok then check the relays. It's nothing but most probably a fuse blown or a relay blown (though unlikely). Driving on cruise at low speed in undulating surface for prolonged time (lot's of uphills and down hills) create current overload in the system and fuse is of low amp to get blown rather than damaging the system.

Ok roovee i checked the link. Thanks. I found that none of the break lights are functional which explains the cruise control malfunction. But I also checked the fuse for the brake lights. its fine. So now i have a new problem.

You really havent mentioned whether an expert has had a look at it. Dont drag this anymore....just have the dealer personnel or someone who is familiar with RS have a look at it.

I think this storys ending will be like looking for your glasses all over the house.........and then finding them on your forehead.

Ok, My last post for the thread. Took the car to the Dealer. The brake switch malfunctioned and he changed it under warranty. For the first time i got reasonably good service and spent nothing. The cruise control is back to normal.
Happy Motoring,
dMH
