But there is a difference!
Pressure variations, with temperature changes, will occur in a nitrogen filled tyre just the way they would happen in a tyre filled with compressed air. This does not involve LOSS of pressure.
Pressure loss from the tyre might vary slightly between the two. Loss obviously means you need to go and have it filled to the correct pressure again.

So which one were you referring to?

i filled my lancer in dec first week & there is no loss in pressure.
there is a smooth feeling in the ride which i felt during my bangalore - kottayam & return trip

In that case, please be advised that there is no empirical evidence to show that nitrogen leaks out slower than dry compressed air!
Obviously there are factors at work that you have not taken into account! To claim that nitrogen leaks out slower is like spreading mis-information!

I did not claim that nitrogen leaks slowly than anything else. I only said that i havent topped up since Dec-2008. and frankly i dont care about the science behind this as long as i dont have to waste time at the fuel pump topping up air.

This is the first time i have filled N2 and i am going to verify pump attender's claim of no pressure loss for 6 months.

Further, i dont know from where you will source "dry" compressed air.

you filled Nitro :Shockked: generally this abbreviation is used for explosives such as Nitroglycerin , TNT or Nitro-Benzine and not for Nitrogen gas ( N2)

Dry compressed air can be sourced from any petrol bunk on a nice hot sunny day.

well there is no device to check whether the air dispensed at the petrol bunk is dry. Most of us usually top-up air along with fuel in the mornings when humidity is relatively higher.

Sorry for not being chemically precise and not writing "Nitrogen". anyways in the context of the discussion where it was written, you would have understood that it was not TNT right?

Vikram - I dont remember seeing a cylinder at this place. Its got two displays one which counts down the time in seconds and the other which displays the pressure. It deflates the tyre and then fills in nitrogen. I remember once I filled it up in Madhus in bangalore a couple of years back when I saw the guy moving the cylinder around while filling up nitrogen in all 4 wheels.
