OT - Am looking for a reliable air pressure checking gauge. Help and suggestions please. |
Hi NC, I faced a similar issue and i managed to buy a nice and reliable guage from my tire dealer. Cost me INR 450/- manufactured and calibrated by Bridgestone.
Look around and you shall find one. Most tire dealers stock them.
I can post a pic of the guage for you in a day or two if u need.
All the best.
pune guys is there any place near kothrud, deccan where N2 filling is available ?

Go to the dealer you got your Bridgestone's fitted from, there is a new scheme going on in which Bridgestone are giving away a quite nice Tyre Pressure gauge in a nicely packed Plastic case et al. I got one for free recently (and without purchasing anything ;)) so you should tell him to give one to you too, since you just bought tyres from them.

Appears to be the very same guage which i was sold for 450 bucks. but this was last november so i am guessing this scheme is rolled out only now.

Give me a call tomorrow, I'll try & find you an outlet.
Ive been driving on Nitrogen Tires for a little more than a year now. My views:
1) The braking has improved. Its more smoother now, if you know what i mean.
2) Ride quality is top notch. Even during last monsoons, the car was very much in control, thanks to the firm-hold of the tires.
3) Get the pressure checked every month without fail. It drops.
4) Nitrotires are HIGHLY recommended on highways.
5) The correct pressure for Nitro is about 2-3 PSI lesser than regular Air.
6) Like NC stated above, stick to one place for refilling. Else, you will be dis-satisfied with the fluctuations of the pressure.
7) Nitro is more-or-less useless on Tubetype Tires. Dont waste your money.
8) And lastly, if you are still driving on Air, please do yourself a favor and fill up Nitrogen. It Dopes.;)
Hope this helps.

I am running on N2 for a few months now & its nice, but i dont see any major difference in ride, handling like it is being put up here (Or maybe i am stupid). Yes, one advantage is that even after 80 odd days , the pressure has not dropped at all. :thumbs up
