I think any scientific textbook will tell you that moist air will expand more.
With Nitrogen(only way to have dry air in your tires) the PSI difference between hot and cold is very less.
Just do a search and you will find my post a few pages back.
I got nitrogen filled just once, because it was free, and I was in that area of town.
Its not worth it to spend fuel and go there to get N2 filled. Paying for it is pretty useless unless you are going to track

I have filled in Nitrogen for my Santro. The normal pressure for Santro Tyres is 30psi for air. However when filling Nitrogen the guy there said 28psi is the right pressure.
Is this correct, or should I stick to 30psi ? Found that with 28 the ground clearance also has come down a bit. (did not measure this though, maybe my imagination as well)

hey guyes i just filled nitrogen in my tyres today for 100rs for 5 tyres and think that its fine for the next 3 mths and let time go and nitrogen will get cheaper as it always happens with the market ups and downs in it.............

Though i am replying late as have recently joined in but may be this info can still be of use . I have recently filled Nitrogen in all my tyres in my scorpio . It costed me INR 100 for 5 tyres . The advantage which i have realised till now is you tyre pressure does not drop infact atall till now . The ride is become more cushioned . I am sure there will be a positive impact on milieage beacuse of the tyre pressure.

in pune some shops are pumping nitrogen...but how to determine whether its 95% or 100 % pure nitro....
they are costing 30Rs per tyre...
they claim, more F.E...less air refills, better handling..less tread wearout..and mainly safer long speedy drives on express highway

To me, Filling Nitrogen may not be a necessity unless you have a bad problem of tyre pressure dropping every week. My car tyre pressure doesn't drop at all for close to 15days from the stipulated 30PSI. Only once it dropped to 29PSI in 15 days. I fill full tank in my Getz every 15 days. I fill air at the same time. Who wants to pay 50bucks for N2 when air comes for free?

I do not think Nitrogen is of any benefit in cars. As for dry air I have no problem since I use a portable compressor (12V lighter powered) which I use once a week. The little moisture picked up from the air is irrelevant. Nitrogen in used in Aircraft tyres, and may be F1 tyres. Have never heard of their widespread use in normal autos anywhere in th world.

I would advise your own compressor (Approx Rs.700-800) for three other reasons. Firstly, the tyres are inflated Cold. Secondly, when you have a flat the spare is almost invariably low or under inflated. Lastly, with a tubeless tyre you can pump it up to get to the nearest convenient point for wheel change/repair.

These are small (mostly unbranded) units of (presumably) Chinese origin (less than 7"x7"x12" weighing a couple of kg ar most), available at many accessory shops. They easily last 8-10 years.

They pump the tyres quite slowly and you switch them off when done. What I have found is that the gauges tend to fail and are unreliable. So I keep my own gauge separately. Both of my cars have an electric pump in the boot. I have used them for 10-15 years.
Earlier I kept foot pumps. Keeping a pump in the car dates back to 1973 or so.

Last Saturday i filled up nitrogen free of charge at the IOC Pump opposite Bikaji Cama Place on the ring road. He deflated the tyres & filled up with Nitrogen. He repeated the process twice upon my request.

well my query is has any one ever filled nitrogen at ashoka wheels at minister in Hyderabad? is it dry nitrogen? and any experiences regarding filling the nitrogen there?

i have recently upgraded the Swift DDiS's alloys and shoes, and i have filled in nitrogen from there and they charged me 50bucks for each tyre including the spare tyre!

please do post any experience filling there! and are any other places in Hyderabad where they fill dry nitrogen?
