Hi,

Depends on whats wrong. If it is alternator cut out or rectifier repair it. If its is something major then replace it.

Cannot give you correct advice till we know whats wrong.

Coil is partially burnt and output is 12v at high rev (above 3000 rpm). Mechanic says output should be 14v. Please advice

If its only the coil it can be repaired, but not too sure wether maruti will do it. We had rectifier and coil fault in our M800 alternator long time back and got it repaired, though the authorized workshop said, "Replace the alternator".
My indica's alternator was faulty with rectifier and plate faults, and it was repaired. But the cost of the repair was close to a new alternator since multiple faults came at regular intervals.
So estimate the cost. If your alternator is more than 50,000kms old and cost of repairs > 50% cost of alternator, get a new one.
