Revs not dropping during gear change !

Guys,

took the ikon out today and I notice that while changing gears the revs do not drop. What could this be ? Clutch or accelerator cable being stuck ?? Am going to check it out in a while ...before that help me out with suggestions please ??

my friend had the same problem with the zen so he had to change some kinda rod connecting the gear and the gear box which costed him about 300 bucks and that solved the problem

There's that pipe that sometimes comes undone, you should be able to see it the minute you raise the hood......that's what happened a couple of times on mine

I noticed the same thing last time I drove the Ikon in Mumbai.....though the revs did drop after quite a lag, 2-3 seconds, when i shifted into neutral at traffic light. Is this the same problem you're facing N_C? or in your case do the revs not drop at all.?

That would be shift-rod. Used for shifting the gear.

The other one is torque rod.

Actually in my Santro the revs take a longer time to drop as compared to the Maruti (1995 model, no mpfi). So I wait for the revs to drop before releasing the clutch after the gear shift. I had always thought that this had something to do with the MPFI and ECU (there are times when the lag is quite noticeable, especially when starting out on a cold engine).

Perhaps something similar is happening in NC's case as well.

Spot on mate. Exxactly what I'm facing. More so when I shift from 2nd to 3rd. Will get it checked on Saturday, till then keep it going so that I can get it checked thoroughly.

Noticed this behaviour when running on a combination of Shell Diesel + Iftex System D.

I feel like giving a solid punch to the service guys who insist that something abnormal is normal and go to any length to prove their point.
