13 inch alloys for lancer??

Me thinking of upgrading my 13 inch steel rims of my lancer to 13 alloys...im tempted to upgrade to 14 inchers but due to my budget limit i cant as then i have to buy new tyres also...im thinking of upgrading to better tyres later on the 13 inchers itself (now i have 185/70)....Any suggestions as how wud it look...or shud i wait till i have sufficient moolah to upgrade to 14 inchers and new tyres(might be a long wait i guess)...Also plz give me a estimate of some 13 alloys in the market...also which tyre (with the max breadth) looks good on 13 inch....

Thanking Bhpians in advance....

185/70-13 tyres can be matched with 13x5.5j size alloys...
U will get 13" alloys for around 3K per piece...

If u are planning for 14" upgrade then go for 195/60-14" rubbber with 14x6J alloys

hey bro .. pick up 13 inch aloys itself .. i am guessing you do some highway driving so better not to mess with the profile .. 13 inch alloys 5.5j and your current tyres will do .. a 4 piece alloy set would cost you around 13 k MAX ..

l_m, if you are upgrading your wheels and tyres, why don't you look for an upsize (bigger wheels, smaller profile tyres). Go up by atleast 1 inch to 14". If you are spending the money anyway, why don't you also enhance the looks a bit? Just a suggestion.

kpzen's suggestions look good. I'd recommend the same.

And in any case, upgrade to tubeless tyres if you are buying alloys. Makes a looooooot of sense.

Yup lancer_maniac, Better not to go for just the alloys. If you cant spend on both right now, wait till your tyres are worn out and when it's time to change them then go for the bigger alloys 14" and 195/60-14 tyres as well. They fit like a glove on the lancer.

Yup. It would be a better idea to wait 'till you have the moolah for the upsize, else you'd be stuck in an endless loop - when you want to increase your tire size to 14 inches, you'd be sitting on expensive wheels at 13 inches. If you want to sell at that time, remember that second hand wheels have a really lousy resale value.

A little patience (actually a lot) my friend - good things come to those who wait...

wait & watch is good. but if you think that it would become a cat & mouse game, then get 14" alloys now & swap your existing tyres for a set of decent used 14" tyres which you can hang on to until you find enough moolah to get a really good one.

hey lancer maniac..
i think you should save some money and go for a bigger rim, the lancer looks weak in 13's and has problems handling even if its on 13inch alloys.. and used alloys are a big no no.. u'll end up with a set which looks okay but will have all sorts of wobble and vibration issues.. most used rims are bent and damaged. So save some money and get 185/60/r14s goodyear eagles or gIIIs or even 195/55/r15.. trust me the 15s dont damage the suspension if dont abuse your car.

Good point
If you want mere looks go for 14" and appropriate wider tyres. If you want to have a quality drive on rough roads and highways too, then go for 13" alloys with decent profile. Never think about low profile, your ride will end up bumpy and will see bent alloys and damaged shocks.

please check the resale value of used alloys. it is pathetic, as far as i know. so i would suggest invest in good 14" alloys first.

I'd say the same thing. Wait a bit if you don't have the green, but make sure you buy the 14" alloys and not something that would be just a half-measure, and would make you lose money in the long run.

I waited a whole 2 years (after getting bitten by the upgrade bug) to upgrade my stock rims and rubber. When I upgraded I was able to go for the best tyres I could buy (Michelin Pilot Precedas), and the largest rim size a sane person would fit in a Palio (15"). I'm so happy I waited.

Had 17" on my lancer ..... drive quality was very poor even on the city roads (Chandigarh) , switched back to 14" within month & half now i have 190/60/R14 .... Tyres have run approx 37K kms .... quite staisfied with 14 inchers
