Accent GLS mileage

Dear all,

Recently, I have shifted to new office close to my home, about 3KM away (one of the lucky ones in Mumbai who come home for lunch!). Earlier my accent (GLS, 41K, 2000) used to give mileage of about 9-10 km/ltr where I drove mostly in city traffic ranging from bad to worse. Now I am getting only 7-8 km/ltr!! I drive mainly on internal roads, not much traffic but I am mostly driving in 2-3 gear as there is no scope of higher speed than 40km/hr. Can driving such short distance and mostly on lower gears can impact the mileage so much? Or do I need to get my car checked?

If this is normal then is there anything I can do to improve the mileage (other than stop driving to the office!)?

regards

Stop-start driving does have an adverse impact on the mileage, though I can't say for sure that's the reason for your low mileage.
Have you been following all the services schedules faithfully till now?
Why don't you take your car out for a long drive and check what the milage is? In case you're still not happy after that I'd recommend you to take your car to the Hyundai dealership for a check-up.
