The following cars are compatible with Scangauge (see the Scangauge thread) and should be compatible with other OBD scanners as well
1) Maruti Ritz (both petrol and diesel versions)
2) Maruti Swift (petrol, K12 version)
3) Maruti SX4 Diesel (not tested, but company claims that it is OBD2 compliant)
4) New Maruti Swift (not tested, but likely)
In the US, all cars after 1996 are compatible, but in India, other than the Maruti cars mentioned above, it is mostly the American cars (Ford, GM) that are compatible.
For Hyundai, the Santro is not, but the other current models are compatible.
There is not much data available on whether Tata cars are compatible or not.
Honda cars are also compatible, except for OHC/OHC Vtec.

TATA cars too are very well OBD II compatible . I have tested the ELM 327 bluetooth on my Indica Petrol (Xeta) and My Safari and both reads and displays real time data .
The Indica shows a total of 26 sensors fucntional , however the Safari displays 19 of them only on the same software .

Are you using a Bluetooth based elm or USB one??
Has anyone used a wifi based one and got any output??? Or anything for that matter with an iPad, iPod or iPhone?? These iOS devices support only wifi based ones.

Are you able to read OBD Signals from Manza? I am also planning to purchase OBD Bluetooth connector for my Vista QJD. But it seems Fiat Multijet is not having standard OBD protocol.

Good summary, just to add ..
Maruti 800 12 valve has a connector which matches perfectly with the OBd2 adaptor but it does not read anything.

Yes, many cars, such as the Santro Xing, Swift 1.3, Swift D (old), have a connector which resembles the OBD2 connector, but they use proprietary protocols, so the standard OBD2 scanners either don't work or have limited functionality when connected to these cars.
Unfortunately, the only way you can find out compatibility is by actually testing it. If your car is not in the list, please be aware that it may not be compatible. If anyone finds other cars which are compatible/incompatible, please add to the list so others benefit from it.

Scangauge/Ultragauge are devices in their own right, which connect to the OBD2 port via an OBD2 cable. There is no bluetooth, USB or WiFi involved.

Just received the ELM327 1.5a USB wired module.
It works perfectly on my Optra Magnum TCDI.
I have used it with Hyperterminal and scanner tools like
ScanMaster,
ScanXL,
EOBDII. All are showing great results!

I researched and figured that Tata uses SAMTEC HS+ device to connect their ECU for Vista-Manza and Fiat cars to system and it has capability to read and reprogram the ECU and they have a software for same. Have you got any success with Scanmaster ELM?

Which Bluetooth OBD scanner did you use? Any links? The one i have (ebay elm 327 clone), doesn't work with AStar MT. However it works with i10 1.2 MT.
What all reading did you get from AStar?
