Time for Suspension Re-do for my Esteem

Car has come back, much fitter & stronger than before to take on these horrible roads. dont know the rates yet as i am yet to collect the bill. will let you guys know the exact amount for the spares as soon as i get the bill.

Check this evening after 8.00 pm. I should have got it by then, hopefully. My mechanic seems to be in no hurry to collect his payment. I have already reminded him a few times.

More often No than a Yes as it is dependent on the condition of the basic strut itself, shaft, seals, springs etc.

The bill is finally here. This is the list of parts changed

1. Front Strut Assembly (MGP) - 2 Nos @ Rs.1,450/- each - Rs. 2,900/-
2. Rear Strut Assembly (MGP) - 2 Nos @ Rs.1,280/- each - Rs. 2,560/-
3. Lower Arm Assembly (MGP) - 2 Nos @ Rs.1,270/- each - Rs. 2,540/-
4. Joint Comp Rubber Bush (MGP)- 4 Nos @ Rs.15- each - Rs.60/-
5. Joint Comp Stabiliser Bar (MGP)- 2 Nos @ 102.50/- each - Rs.205/-
6. Re-bound Bush Strut (SGP) - 4 Nos @ Rs.378.50 each - Rs. 1,514/-
7. Strut Bearing & Bush (MGP)- 1 Set - Rs. 205/-
8. Grease - Rs. 40/-
9. Labour - Rs.1,300/-

Total Bill Amount - Rs.11,324/-

50,000 kms?

My car has done 77000 & this is the first suspension work done. So, i guess it should be around 60-70k kms.

Hey,
I think my Astra's suspension needs work but dont know how much it should cost so have been putting it off for quite a while now. It has clocked over a lakh kms & i dont know whether suspension has been changed or not. Will try and find out.

Anyway, what would be the approximate cost? My car is pretty old so if it is a little high then i might as well let it be as its not unbearable or such.

Go to any good workshop and ask them what would be the cost-range for a suspension re-do on an astra. Ask him to give a minimum and maximum figure .

esteem_lover,data you provided was really informative.

My esteem is moving a bit to the left when i brake hard, but my mechanic says everything is fine, shocks would hardly require a change & frequent greasing would help . I guess I got to follow psycho's words of changing the entire assembly.

I got my suspension repaired too. The car was wobbling a bit at high speeds, (65+)
here are the particulars:
1 set linkage Rs 300
2 Front Lowering arm Rs 2450
4 Shock absorber kits 1300
1 rack Bush Rs 110
1 B-Rod Kit Rs 90
4 Shock Absorber bearings Rs 440
1 Set Rear break Liner (KBX) rs 450
1 set WLC assembly Rs. 210(dont know what this is, someone please explain)

2 Balance rods rs 480
4 Axel boots Rs 240
1/2 kg grease rs 100
1 Cotton waste Rs 10
Labour Rs 1200
Total: Rs 7380

The ride qualithy has improved a LOT after getting this done!

Hi Friends Then what is ball joint and tire rod here the Prices you mentioned I wanted to know the cost for same and Even the Clutch plate with Pressure Assembly.
