I love high-revving petrol engines to death, but I am also a fan of diesel engines...especially the high cubic capacity ones. The torque they are capable of providing at low rpms is a distant fantasy for gasoline engines, and the resultant driveability around town is so strong that you can cruise all around in just one gear. Have driven only a handful of crdi engines including the Mercs, but have cruised in big block Ford diesels in the States.!

Diesels have almost as much character as petrol engines.

Yeah that's true, expect it to be in showrooms by Sept, this year.

But let me warn you, never ever try and race the new Vtec against the old one. It'll just leave you for the dead!!!!

leave the old one for dead or the new one? I'm sure with a little "tinkering" of the suspension, the NHC Vtec will be quicker AND faster over a given section of road.

we'll just have to wait and see!

the difference is that one will go around corners, the other will go straight through them

Its good news that Honda is bringing back the Vtec for the City...but i think the character of the new City really isnt for spirited driving she is much more of a family kinda car and does her job superbly.
I hope Honda re-introduces the old model with cosmetic changes and with only the Vtec engine. They can maybe brand it as a pure sports car and offer the side skirts n stuff which they had earlier.I am sure there will be a lot of takers for such a car for abt 9-10 lacs maybe even 11 or 12 if its going to be branded as a sports car(by our standards). The Vtec is an efficient engine and if we are going to get 97 octane petrol then they wont even have to de-tune the engine.Imagine a 11 lac car with 110bhp(Vtec 1.5) , well matched gear ratios (maybe do 100kmph in the second and be the one of the fastest acclerating cars in India)excellent power to weight ratio , stiffer suspension , better top end(in excess of 200kmph) , razor sharp handling it will be an awesome car!!
Maybe it will be re-introduced in the National Rally Championship(those guys do wonderful things to their Vtec's).
I can just pray!

why ask for a City when Honda is giving you the Civic for that price???

Wait for a few months, and you shall receive!

the highest revvin street car is the Honda S2000, with some 9500revs or sumtin rite. And if this one goes 8k+ revs, it shuld be up on top in the list, like it is

Well Shanta2u is really great to know that a diesel powered car can just keep up with the Vtec without much time gap! A diesel that too having 24 less horses then the Vtec! Also the NHC is faster then the CRDi even though producing only 77bhp
