Automech anytime
Take satya s word for it when it come to Free flows

cheers

It's easy to get "noise" and consequently "think" your car is faster. It take a bit more work to actually get some power gains. Some members know that better than others!

Very true. Happened to me when my exhaust blew a hole (rust, thanks to the car sitting idle for long periods of time) and I thought for a while that the vehicle 'felt' faster. Even my 4 yr old son felt that I was suddenly driving faster.......

Its all in the mind.

hehe,
i dont make those exhausts pal ;) .
but around mumbai i think its Automech ,who are the most reliable.

Without altering valve timing and duration i.e. camshaft mods, wouldnt a free flow pipe be kinda useless??

automech anyday...
leme know which bhpian goin next...
because me goin there too...

know that bro
what i meant is you have knowledge about
Free flows
K&N filters
Tyre Sizes
and so much more

its simply so valuable to all

cheers

well i had installed a k & n and a free flow in my mpfi zen,i did get an increase in performance but i also had a decrease in F.E..if before the install i had a F.E. of 13-14,it had dropped to 11 .reason being since more air is being brought in into the engine(due to the k&n).it is also being expelled at a faster rate (due to the free flow).so the ecu calibrates itself and starts providing more fuel(tahts y u feel the increase in performance).thus the F.E lowers.

does the same hold for carburrated cars as well .. i mean does the FE go down in that too ... .
it should go up right ??? considering there is more air to mix with the same amount of fuel in the carb .. or do u need to get it tuned so that it mixes more fuel with the excess of air ???

What is a banana manifold free flow??

never heard of banana manifold Free Flow!

A good free flow is that which will allow exaust gasses pass freely without any obstruction this includes tuned headers, removing of catalytic converter and good muffler, kind that was installed in my vehicle ,

Headers can be of 2types 4-2-1 and 4-1, the first one is basically a balanced one where u get good low-mid-high rpm benifit kind of good for street/strip use,and where is in 4-1 is for more power at higher rpm, with 4-1 u loose low end torque which is essential for city traffic

A free flow will also be benefitted if ur Exhaust Port are ported and polished

well lets put it this way,an engine does maintain a fuel/air ratio of 14.7:1(or somethin close).this means that one part fuel is mixed in 14.7 parts of air.so technically for the engine to work it has to maintain this ratio(be it mpfi or carb).in case of carburetter,if u install a free flow,u wil get a very slight increase in performance(which actually is psychological cos u have this in the back of ur mind that u have installed a free flow) but ul also have a slight incease in F.E under normal driving conditions(which wont happen cos the sound of the free flow will be so intoxicating that u wud not want to drive slow).but a free flow is not installed for better f.e. but for more power .upjetting the carb and a tuned free flow will give u good performance increase.so its advisable that u get it done from somebody who knows his exhausts well.
