I would say the Aston Martin V8 Vantage or the Alfa Romeo 8C.
I would say i havent heard em for real, but Topgear was a great source to listen to their engines.

Particularly when its raining, the back fire sound , full rpm sound,:D I love it.
Have any one heard of dolphin. Rally prepared car twin carb, Fast rpm ,sound like roaring

Among Indian cars, I'd rather vote for our beloved fiat & conty, with FFE and header, and among imports, I'd vote for Corvette Sting Ray, which I have driven for a long time, (obviously not in India).
The Diablo sounds like there's something coming apart inside. And when you rev up the engine, it's a bit screechy.
The M3 with its V8 engine is BMW's most powerful model but it just doesn't sound like it.
The Viper SRT 10 sounds like a big cat snarling...an absolute beast. I love it.
The Zonda sounds like it's on an large amp. Definitely loud.
I'm a big Mustang loyalist but am not too fond of some of the newer models. But I still love the sound on the GT.
The Countach's another snarly devil. Too loud for my liking. I like my cars to growl.
Another car I'm coming to love, and which should definitely be a part of this list, is the SLS AMG. Nice and rumbly.
Voted for the Viper. A biased vote because I heard only three among the poll list in real life - The Viper, the Mustang and the Diablo and the Viper sounds the best, has a trademark sound compared to other soprts/super car.

Thank you for reminding me. I think I got carried away and forgot to mention what car I'd voted for. Definitely a huge fan of the Viper.
For me the best sounding car would be the "Bowler Wildcat" I just love the roar!

Ferrari 430 Scuderia..... that thing is MENTAL!! I've heard the lambo gallardo, murceilago(cant spell it), ferrari 430/430 Scuderia, 599, Porsche 911 Turbo, Caterham and a few others at the Nurburgring (yeah, I was there!!)
