Can this odometer be repaired?

Hi,
My Indica's odometer has developed a strange problem at around 75K kms.
when the trip meter(the small meter at bottom) reaches 99, it does not go beyond that. At that point the main odometer also refuses to go forward. So for the main odometer to register kms I have to reset the trip meter every time its about to reach 99.
Can this problem be repaired, or the entire console has to be replaced etc.,

The Speedometer works fine. Its of pricol make(I guess all indica's have pricol meters).

If your Indica is under warrany period you may get it replaced by the TATA service center. No idea about the repairs of the Odometer bro.

There must be a meter specialist in Delhi who can help U.
But these days, everyone suggests replacement rather than repair.

My indica is out of warranty by a long margin, its a 2002 model, about to complete 5 years in another couple of months or so.
If somebody knows of a meter specialist in Delhi, it will be great.

Meters can be repaired. Have done this umpteen number of times for the bike. But you will never feel the same after that. There will always be that feeling that the speedo or the odo is just not right. Better get it replaced.

surely that will be from zero itself but I am not sure if you can alter the readings without breaking the seal.

I faced the same problem with my bike, a couple of weeks ago. I got it repaired, just one spring needed.

A new console would have cost me 1050.

The seal is nothing but a small sticker over one of the screws. Some people maintain extensive logs of their cars/bikes. I have always added the kms when getting the odometer serviced. That way, I try and maintain an accurate reading.

Most people do the opposite. I know of a friend who sold a 2lac kms car after resetting it to 40000.

.. but many people prefer not to open a new one unless there is some obvious reason mentioned above.

Thanked: Once

Why dont you check in the local GUJRI? definately there is a good hassle free(!!!)deal(with a possible exchange deal) in the corner.

P.S:It is reccomended to ask your(trusted Mechanic/driver)to handle it.
