Hi

I have observed a little rattle in the driver side corner of my Petra. I observe this while waiting in neutral in traffic when I turn the A.C on. I tried to check if it happens in my parking lot, I cant see it happen. Another observation is I press the clutch a little say 0.5 to 1 inch it goes away. The rattle is not that bad, many people may not even feel it.

I suspect it might be for two reasons

clutch slack
fuse box nuts loose (not sure because the rattle could be from engine bay).

Any thoughts, preferably I'd like to fix it my self before I go for service in June. Any thoughts and suggestions.

Has any one faced similar issue before, comments and experiences appreciated.

The door panel is not tight....or something inside is loose and is vibrating.
Find out exactly where the rattle is coming from. A simple re-install of the door panel should sort things out.

It feels more like the source is in the engine bay. From what I hear and feel I do not think it is the door panel. The same rattle does not show up even while going on bad roads or good roads. It is apparent only in Neutral with AC on and not all the time.

How old is your car?

I had a similar rattle in my car at about 65000kms. The noise would go away on pressing the clutch. When I went to the workshop, the guys said that its got something to do with the release bearing. They said its not a problem and told me to drive the car untill the clutch needed replacement.

Drifter

mine is about 2.5 yrs old and has run 14000 KMs. It is not a very big rattle.

I too had similar experience, got rectified by the dealership once but again landed.

I am sure the fuse box rattle is easy to fix, but not sure about the one that seems to be from engine bay.

It is the clutch release bearing noise in all probability.Ignore it till the time it gets unbearable.Had got it replaced in my earlier 1.2, dont quite remember for how much, but its not very expensive. Not a serious issue. And it can happen at any time during the life of the clutch.Infact, I have the same issue in my 1.6 S10 as well, but its only slight and intermittent.

If it helps, try changing your fuel ! I have no hard facts or data to back me up, but in my case, I've felt this bearing noise mostly when I fill up with HP Power in my car.Have been filling up with BP Speed since a while now and the noise seems to have gone,or maybe its not audible enough to be disturbing.

OK, thanks for the inputs guys, I appreciate it.

I found it to be fuse box. While rattling I press the fuse box cover a little hard the rattle stops. I will get the fuse box/ compartment tightened in my next visit to dealer.

if you have access to the screws you can tighten them yourself (carefully these are plastics and overdoing will break them) and always a better way to get it done compared to dealer

I may even try doing on my own. Initially the fuse box had not even been fixed sufficiently. A couple of times it dropped down on the accelerator, later they claimed to have fixed it with some kindaa clamps. Its time to figure out what they did more than a year ago.

The Gear level in my XETA has developed a case of Squeeking Rattleites..!

It squeeks on Gear Shifts..!

Guess the Bush will be changed next service..!
