Logic was already explained in above posts, let me put it simple

Driver side mirror will be longer to accommodate a bigger flat mirror, to have a better field of view for judgements (gap, relative velocity of vehicle behind etc) and also house a convex mirror at the end to address blind spots

I can only guess why. The car is almost 5 meters long and with the passenger side vertical mirror I can see the side of the van. It is very helpful for taking right corners on narrow streets even more while pulling a trailer. You always want to know where your right rear wheel is since I drive on the right side of the road.

In the UK the mirrors are on the opposite sides.

While driving 18 wheelers, I have had incidents when the right mirror got damaged by passing trucks on narrow roads. It felt like I was driving in the blind without the right mirror. I would get them replaced as soon as possible and in crowded streets, had the new mirror delivered to the truck before I could continue.

Your post made me curious and I checked out my magnite. The ORVMs are slightly different in size and the angle of closure is different as well. Now that I have seen it, I keep noticing this every single time. Driving me insane !

Really surprising! I never noticed in any vehicle. So checked my Creta again today. Both are symmetrical & folds together. I guess different tilt was required in older cases of externally adjustable mirrors. With the present generation of electrically adjustable ones, the mirrors are tilted differently as per viewing angle but the outer frames are symmetrical.
