Need some info on steering spacer.

Anybody on the other side of 5'10" will understand how much of a prob it is, keeping your knees from touching the steering wheel.

The OHC Vtec on the other hand has one of the most compact driving position of the lot.

So, i was just thinking if i could space out the steering to solve this prob.

How exactly can this be done and can i still use the stock steering after the extension?

@ shan2nu - any particular reasons you've not gone for those chotu steering wheels. That might solve your problem to some extent?

Nah, i don't like those steerings. The stock size is perfect for me. Moreover, i want the steering to come forward a bit coz my seating position is way at the back.

Two solutions; You can either buy a deep dish steering wheel which extends atleast 3inches more than stick wheel. Or get the steering wheel spacer,easily available in blore bt not sure if it will fit this steering tough...

Dunno if someone makes a spacer kit for this purpose, but as long as the spline for the steering shaft is long enough, you can fabricate your own spacer. Keep in mind that it will also affect others who drive the car.

It will not fit the stock steering.. he will have to go in for an aftermarket one.. Like the steering i had in the esteem.. and i think its called a Steering Hub..

Not a wise idea. Will alter the trail; although it wont affect the steering angle or operation (in terms of lock-to-lock turns), it'll affect the geometry. Unless the main shaft is extended, modifying the steering column.

But the steering column might not be receptive to those changes.

A better option would be to get racing bucket seats. Sit lower, and your knees won't touch....deep dish or smaller steering wheels are other options...

I too think its call the steering hub/boss, bought one when I changed the steering. The accessory shop guy sold it along with the steering
