Mahindra Bolero - Low torque in 2nd gear?

My Mahindra Bolero seems to have very low torque in 2nd gear though it pulls well in all other gears. Could you explain me why is so?

Hi offroader

Have you compared it to other Boleros? Do all have the same problem or is it only yours? This will help us in first identifying whether the problem is unique. Or due to the gearing / turbo-lag etc. of the Bolero.

I used to have a IDI bolero Sportz till 2005 Aug.
I do not think Bolero has a Turbo/intercooler AOD.
The only upgrade is to a DI engine.

cheers.

I have faced the same in most Boleros I have driven. I believe it has to do with a combination of the usual RPM, Turbo Lag and Gear Ratios for the Second Gear. I might be off the mark, but someone who knows this more technically, can perhaps explain.

I think, all of them now are turbocharged, except a 4x4 version, which is slx or something that uses IDI X3DP engine

I think Turbo didn't exist before the Walrus-toothed model.
So only the walrus DI Boleros have turbos.

Towards the end of 2006, XD3P and DI turbos were sold side by side, at least for some time. The DI Boleros always came with turbos from the very beginning.
Mine is a 2006 Bolero Sportz (XD3P) and a Bolero Club friend owns 2006 Bolero Sportz (DI turbo): both of them have the old grille and headlights (not the bunny tooth grille).

Slightly off-topic.
Is the old grill a straight replacement for bunny teeth?

Good Job! But, the bottom-line of the entire discussion is, that the Bolero platform has so much potential and the guys at M&M just can't get it right. Some of my key thoughts:
- The 2006 Bolero Sportz Form Factor
- Redesigned Side Steps
- CRDe Engine
- 4x4
- Better Interiors
- Lower NVH
@ Less Than 8 Lac Ex-showroom

Is this asking for too much? The stuff they have been feeding us over the years, is so discouraging, for so encouraging a platform.

Yes Yes; In fact you can pull the bunny teeth off the new grill and what you are left with is the old grill + 2 holes

I think the old grill has a different shape / curvature.

Actually, you'll be left with 4 holes.
I guess enough drifting away from the topic...before the mods notice us.
