ECM To be replaced. Need some advice.

Hi, This is my very first post so please bear with me.

Car model

Toyota Corolla Altis V AT 2008

Background

The car was dormant for about a year as I was away from home.

Problems it's having
  • Two out of four fuel injectors are not working.
  • Can not go above 40kmph.
  • Engine overheats in a few mins even with the radiator fan on and the engine temperature gauge shows normal.
  • Jerks when at idle.
  • Scan is only showing P2118 error
  • Slight kick when put into D or R

I took it to a Trusted Mechanic here at Mallick Bazar area, Kolkata. The mechanic first checked the throttle body based on the error code and replaced the fuel injector with new ones then checked the cable from ECM to the fuel injector after that checked the ECM itself and said the ECM is faulty and can not be repaired and needs replacement.

Solution
ECM to be replaced from another same Altis.

Cost
20k with ECM programming

Now I have some questions.
  • Is there any way for the ECM to be repaired?
  • Is this a good price for a used ECM?
  • Will my car work properly with the new ECM from an another car?

Any kind of advice would be helpful.

Re: ECM To be replaced. Need some advice.

Here an update after the ECM replacement

ECM replaced from the official 89661-02Q80 denso unit to 89661-02Q70 denso

Everything works fine. It's just the car won't show if it's put in D R N or any gear. I guess that's because the ECM was replaced with a manual transmission altis and then programmed to work with the auto tranny.

I wonder if someone had the same experience. Not that it's a big deal but still...
