Trust me when I say this, I would so wish he were not my friend, and this isn't even comes in the top 100 cheap things he has done
Even I used to think that parts are cross linked to VIN, but it turns out you need VIN to order a new part from the company. For everything else, there apparently is a way around, while installing the part in the car. So I am assuming that such a fraud can be only be traced if the owner complains to VW and VW zeroes down on the car that has this particular part installed, which given the extremely prompt and customer centric behavior of VW/Skoda (pun intended) isn't going to happen any time soon. I had considered this option, but it would still have cost me upwards of Rs.1.5 lacs. Plus at the time I already had an open dialogue with VW regarding my warranty claims, that would have subsided, and I wouldn't have been in a position to take legal action against VW had I opted to get repaired by a FNG.
As of now we are hoping the courts will consider our request for refund of cost of car. Should this not happen, we will see what other options we have, nothing too sure at the moment. |
