HM has recently started selling some LANCER spares over the counter, TATA- Maruti Parts are available in the Aftermarket from the same OEM companies minus the TATA or Maruti Genuine Spare Tag.

Even after Discontinuation of a Particular Model- I read somewhere that the OEM and Car Company have to provide for Spares for at least upto 5 years from the Date of Discontinuation.

I finally got it in the open market only. Point is what are they trying to achieve by not selling the parts over the counter, esp of a model which is more than 7 years old. I would rather prefer to buy a OE part from the manufacturer/dealer than the Open market, but don't want to pay the ridiculously high labour charges that they charge.

A lot of local/imported (so called) parts are sold as original.
But can somene help out with genuine ones. I need a pair of brake discs, brake pads & brake-shoes

Thanks in advance!

That is exactly the point. I want to use OEM parts but do not want to get forced to get my car repaired at the Dealer-workshop. Infact I do not even want to buy OEM parts from the Dealer-workshop, but from a nearby parts shop. In that way there will be competition.

This is nothing but a monopolistic approach by the manufacturers to ensure that "their cars" are serviced by "their dealerships". If I remember correctly, there is a law against this practice in the States. Such a monopolistic approach gives them an indisputed price benefit.

That said, dealerships are either running on wafer-thin margins or in a loss. Its their service centers which bring in the moolah. Thus the control on spares

However, we deserve a choice. Its out money on the car and we should decide who works on it. What if I am unhappy with the authorised service stations quality, and trust my independent mechanic more?

Absolutely my case!
My experience:
The monkeys at Ford service remove a part from another car and fix it mine and if my car runs properly, they blame it on that part and order a replacement.
They can't diagnose it by the symptoms.
Whereas, my independent garage guys take 10 minutes to diagnose the defective part.

Ford Guys are seeming to be the worst hit guys!! (And we talk about TATA or Fiat as worst in terms of After Sales)

No,1100D.
Ford's spares are localised and easier to source.
And do note that i've felt the same with every A.S.S. .
