Re: Finding my Tata Punch underpowered | Can I add a turbocharger to it?

From what the op posted, my understanding is that he needs more torque. Which is not there in the iturbo. It just has a better top end from my experience which I'm not sure will help with his particular requirement. I'm sure the iturbo can be remapped for more torque, but then can the ta65 handle it is the other question (my opinion is no)

I own a iTurbo which is stage 1 remapped. Compared to NA the whole power-torque is different. I wouldn't agree that only the top end is better. Actually the top end on the iTurbo is pretty lame expect for the last 5000-5500 range.

The TA65 is certainly not a sporty gearbox. But it can handle a remapped iTurbo. The clutch actually is the weakest chain in the link as of now. Not the gearbox

I stand corrected. How many km have you run till now? Does the iturbo use the same clutch as the NA? Update: as per boodmo it does

Same clutch as the NA, I've done about 12-15k on the remap (including a 3k km Goa-Shirdi-Ooty-Goa trip.

Re: Finding my Tata Punch underpowered | Can I add a turbocharger to it?

I was checking on boodmo, the part numbers for the iturbo and NA clutch are different.

582525200127 for the NA altroz, punch, Tiago, tigor
582525200114 for some other altroz, Tiago, tigor (including jtp)
582525200131 for the altroz iturbo

Indica has a similar setup, different part numbers for different engines but physically intercompatible. I know for sure because the fng that did my clutch change apparently installed an na indica clutch in my TCIC and my acceleration is very jerky because the pressure is different.

My cousin, who is a mechanic, is now in the process of adding a TC to an M800. He's upgraded rear brakes to discs as well.
