Sounds a bit strange that car manufacturers or service station tells not to change gearbox oil. They probably envisioned some problem due to replacing with different quality oil which creates problems.
With such instruction, service centre would be hesitant themselves. But as a owner you can always go for it after 40K run.

Honestly most of the points under ‘Severe Driving Conditions’ qualify for Indian roads, mainly metros. So no confusion, get the CVT oil changed at whatever interval is required and feasible.

Sorry but I do not agree with the sentiment that it is some ploy on Hyundai or any other OEM'S part that are making claims about the service life of a component.

If they are saying that something should last 6 months, 10 years, lifetime, etc then I would tend to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Otherwise, if we are to doubt them why not doubt their other claims? Why a 10k/1 year service interval? Anyone would be better off with a 5k/6 month interval. As cleaner oil would always be better?

However, for this particular case in point, it seems like most of the OEM warnings for severe use would be true. From high idling to short trips with slow speed, this would be the day in day out of any city car in India.

There is a whole thread on Team BHP and multiple YouTube videos on whether, or not and when, if ever, to change the ATF in one's AT vehicle.

Suffice it to say that our operating conditions are very harsh. And that there is no such thing (logically) as a 'Lifetime Fluid.'
