The Indian car scene is changing rapidly, so do the various styles adopted by the manufacturers. Not too long ago, exhaust meant just a small piece of metal, whereas now, it plays as significant role in the aesthetics and driving feel of a car. BHPians, what's your favorite exhaust arrangement style in modern cars?
1) Single / double downturned: This is generally for cars that do not prioritize exhaust noise / aesthetics and just hides the exhaust from plain sight to a certain extent. Sometimes, the cars which have these are loaded with fake exhausts in the bumper. Eg: Mercedes E Class.
2) Single shown / Dual exhausts in a single side: For cars that tend to come as sporty within a budget, this serves as a good position. This may not be very loud, gets the job done to an extent. Eg: I20 N-Line.
3) Single exhausts in either side (i) Circular: These have circular exhausts in either sides. This may look sporty, but not the fully-maxed sportiness we want. But nonetheless, this looks S-E-X-Y. Eg: 3 Series G20 Pre-LCI.
4) Single exhausts in either side (ii) Free-Flow: These have a free-flowing shape for the exhausts, but a single one placed in either side. Eg: BMW M340i.
5) Quad exhausts: Appear as the most sporty, most loud and most expressive form of the exhausts. Seen in various performance M, AMG and RS models. However, some companies are terribly doing it (Gloster, I'm looking at you!), but keep them aside. Eg: BMW M5.
6) Other: There are certain other exhaust placements done by manufacturers, such as Mini, where they place it in the center, or lotus, where triple exhausts are present.
Something like this-
I am glad that Mercedes provided 2 real exhausts and didn't do a cost-cutting back then.

Equal number of pipes on both sides, whether one or two (obviously!).
I really miss the BMW 535i's exhaust setup...
... on my 530d:
This is where I really appreciate Kia. They pick up even the small details, a company that is continuously improvising. This is such a smart-looking butt:
The otherwise handsome Thar looks awful with its huge silver end-can placed so prominently. So I painted mine matt-black:
On a related note, crank up the volume. This is among the best-looking & best-sounding exhausts on the planet:

Simple answer: I don’t care!
It doesn’t matter to me if the car sports fake exhaust tips or real, one or two or four. As long as the overall design is cohesive, it makes no difference.
It’s not as if we are getting V8s in India. Nobody is getting fooled by the ‘dual exhausts’ of your 1400-1500cc Creta or Seltos or A Class.
Honestly, this is something that I don't even notice and I am pretty sure a majority of people also wouldn't notice. As long as it sounds good, even a simple hidden pipe system would do.

Sure your vote counts too. Many cars do look good without the exhausts being shown out, like the Virtus and Taigun. Both engines are beasts, but their exhaust in barely visible. So, I guess what you are saying is also acceptable.

Its not about getting fooled or boasting over others, its what you prefer. I don't care what people think about the fake exhausts of my Astor, and neither should you! This thread is created for knowing what you prefer, it may even be out-of-the-box answers, but not ones that justify the need of dual and quad exhausts. As i stated earlier, its your preference, the one you'd love to have.

Man, I echo you. That's actually the main reason why I created this thread. I saw a bumper-deleted Mustang today morning and this thread had immediately come to my mind. By the way, that Mustang had a custom catback exhaust with 4 tips. It also had crazy low profile tyres. Was driving, so did not click a pic.
What about the twin exhausts in the centre?
Thats not an option in the poll.
But it suits my car rather well I think.
I'd describe myself as a "don't care about number, just need symmetry" person. Oh, and anything with more than four cylinders should have one that can sing.
2 exhausts with one on either side look great, while some oddball choices like the Lexus LFA's triple exhaust pipes also look fantastic!
Whatever goes well with the design is the best kind of exhaust setup. :thumbs up

Your Mini looks absolutely fantastic with that exhaust setup in the middle. You could vote 'Others' for this option. I've always been a fan of Mini's small design, but its only today that I've seen it in detail. Lovely setup :thumbs up

Absolutely true! Symmetry looks great as it balances out the shape more. That's actually shown in the votes too! People vote more for the one with symmetry (single tips on either side) rather than a specified side (downturned single / double). And the LFA's arrangement looks neat!
While my vote is for the quad set up, one can't unsee the (forgive the term) butt-h0le exhaust of the Porsche Boxter?

I love this set up too. Looks class, stylish and serves the purpose too.
I didn't vote on this one because personally I don't care. It doesn't matter to me whether you have 1 2 3 4 5 or whatever exhausts coming out the car. It should be functionally good with not too loud music.
Please add an option of "doesn't matter to me" in the poll.
Cheers
I might be one of the few oddballs, but I love the look to exhaust coming out near the door sill like
Dodge Viper
Mercedes G Wagen
