XUV700 FWD: Mysterious clicking sounds from the front wheel I have had my XUV 700 AX7L D MT for about 1 year and 2 months now and have 13.5k kms clocked.
About 20 days ago, I noticed a clicking sound coming from the front right wheel while driving. It was barely audible when I was driving with the windows rolled up, which is 99% of the time. This started after I had been driving on some mud roads and started noticing it when I was parking my car in the parking. This occurred when the wheel was fully turned towards the right while moving at a slower speed.
I immediately took it to my trusted MASS Chrome Motors in Mysore Road, Bengaluru. On inspection, they claimed it to be normal after the test drive and were in a lot of cars, which was not a satisfactory answer for me. I then approached Prahlad, who is the regional customer care manager, and he arranged for a technical manager, Guna, who visited today and outrightly claimed it is normal for an SUV to make such a tick-tick sound when the torque is transferred and is in all the brands of SUVs, which is again not a satisfactory one. If that is the case, every XUV700 is expected to behave the same way.
Clicking noise has no noticeable change in handling or steering response.
Nothing stuck in the tire tread could cause these sounds.
