GEAR shift pattern - is this right?

The MATIZ manual says 1 gear upto 20 KMPH . 2nd gear 20 to 40. 3rd gear 40-50 . 4th gear 50-60 . 5th gear 60km upwards. How right is this. is this appropriate for getting better FE in city & HIghways. opinion invited. TIA

shapath, really dont worry about the speedometer, just shift between 2k-2.5k rpm range to get best mileage.

You can shift gears at lower speeds too depending on the road, the above mentioned speeds for each gear can be considered for a good FE.

shapath, the best compromise between performance and mileage is to shift up at 15-30-45-60 for 2-3-4-5.
