get the code changed
other than that you can get all the locks on the car changed but for thAt car has to go in to a MASS else code change is a 2 min process
but car keys are easily copied especially these cars..so....

Get a new set of remotes and they will match the frequency with the new remotes thus rendering the old ones useless. Then get the locks changed. Until you do that keep your vehicle locked securely using other means (may be a couple of chains and padlocks on tyres, or a gear lock).

Recently the same thing happened to a friend. The new remotes (a set of two) cost Rs. 750 (Nippon make for Swift VXi). Not sure about the lock.

Thanks guys for all the help and info,

I have decided to reprogram the Nippon, and reatain the lock as it.
The quote I got from a MASS is INR 9340 for a lock set.

Does any one see any problems that can arise from doing this.

@pjbiju any idea where your freind got this done.
Should I take the care or the executive can come to my place to do this.
@ Iceman I am assuming that you mean once I buy the new remote the reporogramming/coding is done at no extra cost

Thanks

10K for a lock set is exorbitant and is definitely on the higher side. 10K IMO is appropriate for a Honda maybe !

You will need to prevent physical access to the car, though you will always have the alarm on. Cheapest thing is to have a steering lock ("J" stick, I don't know the exact technical term for this) , should be less than 1000/-, and make sure you use it every time you leave the vehicle.

Guys

After deciding to only reprogram my remote so that the old one would be nonfunctional, I called the nippon service guys who promptly agreed to give a door service

When the guy came for the reprogramming with his black bag, I was expecting some serious technical stuff. Some meters etc to change the frequency which would have showed my current frequency and the altered frequency after the job was done.

But to my surprise the guys just switched on and off and made the remote squeak a bit and said the job was done .
He also offered a new remote for 650 single piece. Which I declined

I reconfirmed if the old remote would be deactivated. and he acknowledged.
But is there any way to reconfirm this.
