Tata 2.2 service intervals(Regular service)

I was asking the salesman about service intervals for 2.2
He told me its different for different cars.
For some its 1000,10000,20000
for others its 5000,10000,15000,20000
It all depends on what service book it came with.
I find this funny.
Could the Tata owners please look at their owner manuals(2.2) and confirm?

If I remember correctly, dadu, adc, harjeev among others have mentioned that the owner's manual states that the service interval is 10,000 kms. They will confirm though.

That makes the service interval of 15000kms.....Is Tata so confident of the new engine?

Even if TATA's are i wouldnt be ...... At best its advisable to change the Engine Oil @ 10K KM max.

I think when the service guy said some cars are with 10K and some with 5K I think he meant 15K. Look like some cars came with a Europe spec manual, in which case 15K interval is not unthinkable.

In our conditions, 15,000 km service interval is bad even with synthetic oil.
I have no words for that interval with mineral oil.
I highly doubt if the fuel, oil and other filters can live upto 15,000 kms in our horrible conditions.
Id strictly get atleast an oil change in 10k.

So dadu, are you willing to "risk" the large service interval or are you going with 10K as the interval?

I do not think there is anu issues with engines in TATA vehicles, its only the secondary components from vendors, which noramally fails and lacks quality.

My book also says 5000kms. The reason is simple - my 2.2 came with the old 3.0 Dicor service book.

Happened to notice simply_sunny' signature on another thread and it mentions Safari 3.0L. So, his comment might apply to the 3.0.

If you are expanding the scope of the poll, the first service on my 3.0 is also 5K. I remember my SA mentioned that different service intervals are applicable for the 3.0L depending on the month of manufacture. If that is right, full marks to tata for confusing people.

Simply_Sunny has a 3 litre, I thought you were asking about the 2.2?

Just FYI, the 3 litre has a 5k service interval but the oil changes happen every 10k kms - I think you're getting mixed up about what you want to ask?
