Independent Honda Mechanic in Bangalore/Chennai/cochin

Hi,

Does anyone know a good independent mechanic in chennai/bangalore/cochin who specializes in Honda cars?

I am debating if I should continue to pay rip off-prices to the dealer or find a good independent mechanic to do simple maintenance.

To give you all an upate. My OHC Honda City 1.5 steering became hard. If I took a turn,it wouldn't come back to the center positionm without using some force. I took it to the dealer in Cochin and they gave me an estimate of about 40,000 bucks to replace the power steering assembly.

Anyway since I was going to chennai, I decided to give Electra a try, having heard good things about them. The service advisor Murugan was very helpful and I had the power-steering issue fixed for 1800 ruppees. A tie rod was bent and he generally lubricated all the steernig parts.

I also took care of some other maintenance items, like replacing a strut, and front brake pads, upgrading the headlights and wiring to 90/100 bulbs. Was afraid to go 100/130 as I do quite a bit of driving at night and am afraid of burning out the headlight lense and reflectors.

When I was there, there was also couple of imported cars being serviced including a Parero 2.8 (not the HM one), Merc E-class, Mitsubishi 3000GT.

For those of you who are in chennai, I would totally recommend Electra in Kottivakam, they will do an excellent job at the fraction of what the dealer costs.

BTW, Electra also has an authorised service facility for Hyundai cars across the road from their Independent garage.

Anyone know of some such mechanic/ repair shop for Honda in Mumbai? Im not too keen to go to the Honda Service as they are a rip-off.

Agree with you guys, Honda does not believe in repairing but just in replacing! i think some work needs to be done on steering rack of my car(OHC) need to fig out from whom to get it done...

You can call Srinivas, he was a SA in whitefield honda few years back, thanks to him my experience with the ASC(WH) was good else i even dare to go there

i think he has setup his own shop somewhere around yeshwanthapura, however am not sure if this number is still active +919611940587

alternatively you can try Nagaraj's workshop in koramangala, 9845275036

I remember having read somewhere in the forum that the electra ownership has changed hands and that they no longer have the Hyundai service. So things may not be the same as 5 years before. So you may want to do checking before you go to them.

I know this is an old thread but anyway. I'm looking for a reliable mechanic as well. Just got a pre owned 2008 Honda CR-V and noticed it has some occasional shuddering (it's an automatic) and Honda says they want to dismantle the transmission to check further! If anyone has any recommendation, please do let me know.
