Free Flow:Does it really cause noise pollution?

guys,
nowadays we are reading abt a lot of us getting caught for our loud exhausts.
wat is the real reason behind all this.
is it due to noise pollution laws or is it because of modifying with the engine.
if a free flow exhaust causes noise pollution then what do u say abt the buses, trucks and otehr LCV's which make more sound.
wat abt the autorickshaws.
and wat abt the sports cars being launched now.like the porsche.
will these cars also be fined then.

or is it taht the cops are simply fooling around with us.
mabbe there is a limit for the sound of the exhaust .and unless its a straight pipe most of the free flows are not as loud as the trucks ,buses or the sports cars.

so wat do u think ??????????

see for the govt. the issue of noise pollution or any other penalty comes in due to the laws by the RTO. this clearly states that ANY modification done to the car in respect to:
1. weight of the car
2. tires of the car
3. engine of the car
4. suspension of hte car
5. exhaust of the car
6. body of the car
is illegal without prior permission and approval in writing by the authorities.

this is pretty stupid since according to this we cannot even put mags and tires...but it is the law. and as usual the cops need to make a quick buck. so....

Best thing to argue with the cop. If he says ur exhaust is loud ask him for a decibel meter. If he aint have one he cant do jack. I think the permissible limit is 85 or something. Why do we worry.. If cops stop.. Let him come.. Inject nos, and ur away before he can note the number lol...

well as said in the RTO book thats what the rules mean....u cannot change any part of the car which changes its unladen weight, performance or looks without their permission...god only knows what they had in mind when they framed this

Like Z said, if the car isn't checked using a decible meter, the cop can't possibly catch you.

We'l have to find out what the max allowed engine note (in decibels) is.

nothing like this has happened to me - a couple of times the cops stopped me for tinted glasses and noticed my sound and then took out a small book an showed me some crappy rle abt the exhaust thingy !!

when i asked for a closer look at the rule and he book he became possesive !!!

that concludes - the whole thing is a money making racket !!

the old taxis make far more louder noise than my free flow !!

cheers

And what about those stock Premier Padminis' LOL. They make the biggest noise and have the slowest acceleration, not to forget the pollution.

Just a thought. A baby crying on top of his/her voice is 100 decibel if no one knew. Car limit is 85 decibel. now imagine if u have a baby crying in a free flow car. .. What will the cop do? Fine the car or the baby?

hey speedsatya,
ive been meaning to ask you this, what are you trying to say with you sign off line (every loud exhaust is not a free flow, but mine is)...and your muffler is a "freeflow" one, not your whole exhaust system...anyway was just trying to figure it out, what are the other types of "loud exhaust" anyway??
