So after exactly 5 years and 1 month and 19 days the battery packed up and refused to start the car (WagonR). Got it checked from a battery shop and found two cells dead.
Replaced with Amaron Flo battery with 4 year warranty (2 year replacement + 2 year pro rated) for Rs. 3100 after giving the old battery for Rs. 500.
Similar Exide battery was for Rs. 2600 only but got the Amaron as the current one lasted for 5+ years.
My car batteries lasted like below,
Car no.1 - 4 years
car no.2 - 4 years
Car no.3 - 3years and 3 months
Car no.4 - Just 2 weeks old and still running:D

Hey I think Oem battery will carry 1.5 year warranty, Chk your battery warranty card with the Manufacturing date on the battery. And details in the car manual for confirmation about warranty dates.

Yes I checked with that and it was 1 year.. And before checking I also called up exide customer care and got the details of the nearest dealer and they also confirmed that its 1 year. I never give up before a fight and the fight for this is over :D
So, today after 5 years and 4 months, and 94165 Kms (Verna Diesel), my OEM EXIDE battery breathed its last. It was giving subtle indications in the last couple of months - by means of the prolonged cranking during cold start. It was more pronounced in the last couple of weeks. Finally, the car completely refused to start this morning.
Got an Amron as the replacement (18 months warranty) for 4.2K after exchange.
The Amaron OEM battery in my Swift VXi has completed 6 years and 2 months now. Frankly speaking I never had the battery checked unless the service center was checking it during routine servicing.

Guess, I will have to eat my own words. :D I don't think the battery will last till winter. I have been driving the Alto for the past few days in city traffic and I have noticed that despite running regularly, the cranking takes a bit more effort now. Plan to replace the battery by the end of this month.

Somehow missed this thread, OK here is one question I would like the ans on. Apologies if this has been discussed earlier, couldnt find it.
How long will the battery last (OEM with the car) with a good ICE ?
eg - 2 amps, speakers and sub using 2 independent 4 AWG kits.

Batteries are like incandescent bulbs - you never know when they will die. Like a bulb flickering before it dies or when it goes 'pop' when switched on, there will be subtle signs of impending failure.
There are TBHPians whose OEM batteries have lasted anywhere between a few weeks right up to 6-7 years. It's a proper hit and miss. My experience has ranged between 2-4 years.
As for the load that you have described - it all depends on your alternator's capacity (which car do you have?) and driving conditions. In highway driving conditions the battery will remain charged as the alternator supplies all the power required, in slow bumper to bumper traffic with AC, your stereo may drain the battery. Powerful alternators have no issues supply power even at low RPMs.

Any battery over 2.5-3 years old needs to be monitored closely for signs of weakness.
An OEM batt @ 4 years is living on borrowed time. To avoid getting stranded when you least expect it, have it changed ASAP. Rains put a heavier load on the electrical system as wipers, AC/heaters and lights are switched on whilst driving especially in the city at low RPMs.

Not an automatic. You must jump start it. If a manual transmission, then you can choose to push start though that it is not recommended. Jump starting is the way to go in both cases. Keep a set of cables handy if your battery is old.

The car in question is Maruti Swift and its driven 7 days 90% times with just one day of idle period at max. The daily run is over 70-80 kms easily.

The Swift (assumed petrol) should have a ~45A alternator, while the Swift diesel has a more powerful one. You shouldn't have any issues with the kind of running your car does.

Got the battery checked at the battery wala, was showing signs of weakness after testing.
It lasted me exactly 3.5 yrs, still has some juice left and it now moves into the older car, was an Amaron brand only.
This time went with Amaron FLO with 2+2 yrs warranty.
OEM Amaron replaced with Amaron Flo for i10 after 4 years with 27k on the odometer and lots of start stop usage.
Mercedes E250 Diesel W124 Series :
Amaron 74 DIN Battery replaced today after 6 years !! It was still going OK but changed it to be sure "just in case".
Incredible performance of the battery I must say.
Mine is an OEM Amaron battery; now three years old and counting.
