Unfortunate but my spark met with small accident

Yesterday night I slowed my spark slightly with the intention of asking the direction , my spark was quite at the left side of road ,suddenly a truck came from the right side and touched/hit the front side of spark (driver side) ,breaking the side mirror and putting a dent in the side red panel (over the right wheel ). The front bumper (black ) has also left the panel at the corner (just above right front wheel) . There is very minor dent in the door panel at the place where the door panel touches the front side panel. Head light is safe.Should I ask for replacing one front panel or is it repairable and dent can be set right with proper color patch up ? Today being Sunday I coiuld not take it to Garage . I shall be taking it tomorrow. How costly this repair is likely to be ? Should I go in for insurance claim? There is no other damage.

Real unfortuante thing. Sometimes w/o our fault, these things happen. Did truck driver pay some amount (for repairs) as it was his fault?

Usually body repairs at the *** will costlier, and man, you are owning a GM car and will be costly. What I can make it from your thread is the FR fender has to be tinkered, if excessive damage, then it needs to be replaced. Try to claim the above by insurance.

You can claim insurance. Since its a new vehicle there will not be much of depreciation. The insurance company will anyway deduct 1000/- as standard deduction. Labour should get paid up in full. If there's a replacement of plastic parts like bumper you will get only 50% if my memory is correct.

Service station will usually make up some story like "Car was parked, some vehicle hit it and ran" with insurance company. So not knowing truck's number should not be a problem IMHO.

Ikon kissed by Honda City

After office on Saturday, I was driving my Ikon peacefully listening to some good old Country music of Don Williams.

My wife was besides me cheerful, en-route to receive my in-laws from CST station.

I was stationary on the Kherwadi signal when all of a sudden--- BANG.

A white 3rd Gen Honda City rear ends me and due to the impact, I touch the Meru Logan in front.

I get down to check the damages. I was under the impression that its going to be huge.

I was pleasantly surprised.

Two small dents on the bumper on the Ikon. The city, being driven by a driver had a deep gash on its bumper, a small crack towards the left bumper where the Ikons rear lug rope got stuck.

Now going to the front, the grill got loose and a little broken and the Ford Logo came off.

Now realised the saying " Built Ford tough". Any Maruti would have multiple dents in the front and back at the impact!!

Checked with Ford showroom on the damages. Rs. 1200/- + Paint.

Had the owner pay Rs.600/- for the damages.

The car now rests in a garage to get the minor repairs done!!

If you were at a signal, I think you forgot to engage the hand brake when being stationary?

How much is he present NCB. If it is second or third year claim insurance. If you are carrying a higher say 50% or 65% (earlier maximum) then it is better not to claim. From the post it is presumed that the overall expense would be below 10 or 12K at the most.

Sometimes hand breaks are not sufficient so hold a car back involved in an impact this hard.
