Need Clarification On Different Scorpio Engines

Hi all,

I bought a 2nd hand 2004 model Scorpio very recently .

As i was seriously looking for 2nd hand Scorpio's .... I have been looking lot of them. The Engine which is in my Scorpio is a SZ2600 Plus Engine.

Could some one let me know the difference of the following engine types ?


SZ2600 Engine | SZ2600 Plus Engine | SZ2600 Crde

SZ2600 Engine - That's the original one when Scorpio was launched.It has gear driven camshaft.

SZ2600 Plus Engine - Gear drive was replaced by chain drive resulting in less NVH levels.

SZ2600 Crde - That's the common rail engine on top of SZ2600 plus.

It means that the SZ2600 had a gear drive timing unit while the plus has a timing chain for the same.

Any performance related differences? I know the CRDe would of course be better.
