Verditer: I run on 100/130W and have not faced any issues. And I have done extended drives where high beam (130W) was used intensively. Only check I maintain is not to use 130W within city and in slow traffic.
I tried the 55/60W power visions and wonder bulbs before deciding on the 100/130W. No substitute to raw power. :)
Suresh - Thanks for the info. I came to know that you're using 100/130 from the other thread where you had posted this.
Good to hear you're having no problems with it, so it can sure be my next option, after trying Xtreme vision 55/60 if I find not much benefit.

Today evening I'm going to JC Road to get a pair of Philips Xtreme Vision 60/55. I think it is going to be better than the current OEM bulbs.

I am using Philips Extreme Power H4 in my Safari after a month of purchase. I am quite happy with its performance, specially spread of low beam. High beam is ok kind of thing but always better than OEM 55/60 bulbs.

I would suggest always sticking to the OEM 55/60 ratings as I remember if you go with the Higher ratings, the installation depends on the installer (good or bad). I remember Happy Wheels having to redo his installation since the first one wasnt good enough.
Anuj, where did you buy the Phlips EP H4 ??

I bought for
850 Rs. from Philips dealer at JC Road. Name of dealer is AK Traders. All other place it is available for more than 1150 Rs. I did several night drive with this bulb and performance is satisfatory. Here is complete address
A.K.Traders City: Banglore
Address: No - 22/23, 1st Floor, 3rd Cross, J.C.Road - 560002
Phone: 91 80 41143199
Email:
sunil_aktraders@hotmail.com
AK Traders also is dealer of Hella products and you can find all types of Hella auxiliary lights there with good price.
I am bit hesitant for going on higher rating due to covered setup of headlights in Safari. All wires are going from inside and to fit higher rating need to make hole in headlight cover, which I do not want.
Thanks Anuj & Dadu. I just called AK Traders and it is available at Rs.900 for pair. I'm going in tonight to get them.

pls carry cash..IIRC, they dont accept debit cards, and its a pain to find an ATM nearby.
What is location of the slave cylinder in the 2.2 Safari?
Is it positioned inside the bell housing like the Scorpio Mhawk?
As far i remember, it is positioned outside.
Can someone please confirm?
Thanks.

Thanks Dadu. I asked with reference to this thread where Mr.4x4 addict was stranded with his family on the road and his subsequent discovery of the slave cylinder being inside the bell housing.

I feel atleast if its outside the bell housing, some jugadu mechanic can help fix it anywhere on the road and the vehicle wont have to be towed to a TASS to lower the gearbox.
Many Safari owners on this forum drive long distance to obscure places devoid of authorised service. In such circumstances, simple engineering helps fix problems on the road without much hassle. Its good to be better informed.

When I went there they were having heaps of Hella auxiliary lights with them. I also got Hella brochures from them. Do not know if they are not keeping it now. Did they say "We do not have now but will come after sometime?"
Got a pair of Philips Xtreme Vision H4 for Rs.900 from AK Traders behind JC Road last night. When I specifically asked for Philips Xtreme Power H4, he said Xtreme Vision is a new product and has better light output upto 35m, and is equivalent to a 100/90w bulb.
Claims apart, I fitted the bulbs myself this morning, and haven't driven at night yet. Will report on performance after some trials at night.
I was also surprised to see that the OEM bulbs were also Philips, and had most wordings on bulb same as the Xtreme Vision. The only difference I could see was the black cap on top was a bit more in the Xtreme Vision.

This doesn't need to cut open the cover, right?
BTW, my new horn (Bosch dual tone like Skoda's) sounds muffled.
We drove on highway during a heavy rain. Initially only one horn blared but slowly after 2 or 3 days the 2nd came alive but overall the sound output is not the same it was.
What could have gone wrong?
Is it repairable?
This horn is not sealed, it has 4 screws around.
Kindly advice.
Thanks,
Mahesh
