Most of these Run on Three Wheeler Engines. Atleast the SAE ones do.

Really amazing, all i can see in the man hours spent on creating this beast.
As a SAE member I really appreciate SAEIndia in conducting such events.

Interest among the students matters the most! I wish I was a part of the their team. Any info about which college!, but due to the cost involved not everyone can take part.

As far as the technical detail goes, (as far as I know kindly bear with me ) all SAE baja vehicles should use petrol engine of Lombardini make (LGA280). It is 275cc engine 9hp and 19Nm torque i believe. I don't know the real purpose of this engine in the real world but I am sure it does not power any super bike, it is designed for lawn mower kind of applications. Overall the Baja( pronounce it as Baha) competition puts the vehicles into real world tests like endurance, hill climb pulling event ! and ofcourse design challenge.
the transmission is supplied by M&M its 4 speed with reverse too.

Replica: I wonder what changes it has !!

This is not a Baja replica Cyrus, the size is nowhere close! This is just a normal buggy which is available in Europe for off-road recreational use!

A particular one which I really like is the Rage buggy & that's powered by a 1000cc superbike (CBR 1000RR) engine!!

See here: Rage R180T

P.S. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds!

Well, I was the SAEINDIA Collegiate club chairperson in my college. We wanted to take part in the competition, as one of the strongest collegiate club chapter in the Coimbatore and if not tamilnadu but due lack of initiative with some of my friends we dropped it eventually . Only very few were eager till the end but you see this event cannot be a one man's show.
Are you part of any collegiate club ? I didn't come on december for the event but came to know a lot about it

Nice pics Cyrus.
Though a bit technical in nature they are surely a treat for those
who are interested.
BTW can you tell the venue as well please for the above event of SAE?

The venue for the event is Pithampur near Indore. The New Natrip Test Track is coming up there and it will be one of the Longest test tracks in the world. Also, A couple of thousand acres and a mountain have been gifted to the Sae Baja division for their track and staying amenities. It is believe me, one of the calmest places i have ever been too..Unless there is a car near you obviously!!

Wow this sounds really cool.
I never even knew there was a SAE Baja event in india! (the website has a virus though )

Please do put up a thread on this even a few weeks before it happens - would like to try and make it, and im sure others would too.
