Esteem Pick Up

Hi Guys I have an 2005 Sep Esteem Lxi done around 20,000kms.I seem to have problems with pickup especially driving on higways when I push the accelerator it takes time to accelerate this I have mentioned during my various visits to Maruti service stations at Chennai but they tell me its because of mpfi, but I dont seem to accept that also the throttle cable end gets loose over a period.Am now in Bangalore kindly advice what could be done as the pickup is really bad and that too for an Esteem.

Tejas, the Esteem has extremely tall-gearing and that affects its spur-of-the-moment overtaking ability. Its also got the juice at higher rpms, thus you have to really wring power out of that engine + gearbox combination. Try downshifting to a lower gear the next time.

GTO is bang on!
The 2nd gear and the 5th gear in the esteem mpfi do 110kph. The 3rd gear can go upto 165kph(indicated).
Quite frustrating for me. On the ECR ,everytime i needed to overtake, i had to come down to 2nd.
