Accident Reconstruction/Simulation Techniques

I came across several references on the web regarding reconstruction of an incedence/accident. Does anybody aware how often it is being used in India and how powerful it is ?

It would be a geat help to use technology to resolve some complex problems, and it should be used more often in legal issues.

Any thoughts?

i have come across a legal case, where it was used to determine how the accident took place, what was the initial speed of the vehicle and how far the vehicle dragged the scooter. i am not sure but two models were used, one from some indian institute and one from some american institute to avoid any ambiguity.
