Ford Fiesta - A/C Noise

Hi All,

Whenever i switch on my A/C in Fiesta, i hear a noise ("tak") from bonnet. This happens only during idling and Fan speed of 1 and 2. What could be the problem? I even told this to Cauvery ford in Bangalore during 3rd service, nothing was fixed. I am planning to give my car to the 4rd service this month, your advices will help me to rectify the issues.

Thanks

Yes, normal - and you don't hear it while driving is b'coz of the road and the engine noise.

Is that a "tak" or a "tik"?

Just for reference:

"tak" = sounds like something hitting something else.

"tik" = sounds like a switch thrown on (or off).

So which one is it?

With the above clarification, do you guys still feel that this is the A/c switching on sound and its normal?

Funda2Max,
May I ask you to have someone turn on the A/c while you have a look in the bonnet? Try to find out the source of this sound. This might give a better picture.

I can hear that sound, on my Honda City, WagonR and Alto from day one! [While idling]

In the honda it comes every 30 secs!.. when the Ac cuts off and then starts again.

the tak noise is natural, its the noise of the electromagnetic clutch engaging!

hi
I haved driven my fiesta tdci 85000 kms in almost 3 years and the sound you are talking about is normal in all the fiesta's or rather all cars.Actually when we switch on the AC the compressor and other AC realated parts come into action so that makes that tak tak sound you are talking about. In case you feel it's something else try to check with other fiests owners.

If it's a 'tik' followed by a 'tak' should we assume 'sab theek thaak hai?'

I don't remember getting this sound, but let me observe and get back to you.

It should be the AC clutch engaging. I too've heard that noise, especially when idling.

It's clearly the A/C compressor engaging to cool you! Shouldn't be a problem to worry about!

It should be a "tik" followed by just the compressor starting and nothing else.

Definitely do not want a "tik-tak" music show!
