Re: Carb 800, loss of power at higher gears

I am facing a similar issue of loss of drive in higher gears. The car is able to pick up in the 1 and 2 gear and in the next two gears when accelarated, the RPM increased and whines but power is not delivered into the wheels.

I am a complete novice on mechanicals, so please let me know the solution as in what has to be rectified or changed so that I can get the same thing done at my regular MASS.

If RPM increases normally and car is struggling to move forward, then it points to a slipping clutch. If the engine struggles to rev freely, then please refer @DHABHAR.BEHRAM's post earlier in the thread.

Have you tried holding the car in 2nd gear and accelerating till about 60kmph? Does the car pick up smoothly all the way?

The RPM increases normally that is it is free revving engine.

Yes thats the second method is exactly what I am employing now, use just the 1 and 2 gear to gain speed and then try to cruise on the next two by slowly pressing on the pedal.

Please let me know what has to be changed or repaired in this case so that I can get it done exactly just that.

Any good local garages in South Blr (Jnr / Kmgla / JPN / BTM) other than MASS where I can get this done.
