Getz CRDI Questions.

Hi

Finally My Getz-CRDi was delivered on last Saturday, 2weeks before the promised delivery date..

Inspite of reading pre car delivery recommendations, I missed identifying, the entered wrong VIN in two of the three free service coupons. I need to get that fixed. They are yet to give me the registration documents etc... Probably need to collect them today or tomorrow.

Need to fix ICE.

I have a question on VIN. I see a 17 alphanumeric VIN on the left rear door sticker. Apart from 17 alphanumeric VIN, I also see *J under driver's seat.

Do you guys understand what "*J" mean?

Also, I see front tyres are not as inflated as rear tyres. I thought it is normal, as the engine is in the front. But, when I saw some of the pictures of getz crdi in this website, I figured that front tyres are as inflated as rear. At the time of delivery, showroom technician who explained about the car told me that all 4tyres are 30PSI. Probably I should get that checked.

Currently clocked ~150 km. BTW, do I need to drive below 70KMPH or so, for the first 1000 KM?

I will soon upload pictures of my getz.

thanks
Suresh

Congrats on the new car!!

Have you upgraded the Tyres? If no then that might be prioritized instead of ICE. There's a number of Getz (CRDI) threads so use the search and you shall be rewarded.

The front tyres will tend to look a little deflated due to the immense weight up front.

I didnt find the CRDI to be much of a problem in stop and go traffic. Besides the TD I have driven my friends car a couple of times.

Mind you Bangalore probably has the worst on the planet

So the Getz CRDi has lesser turbo lag compared to the Verna CRDi? I remember the Verna and Optra Magnum having a weird characteristics in traffic. If you back of the throttle at very low rpm the car actually tries to accelerate to prevent it from stalling. It was scary as it kept creeping up quickly to the car in front in stop n go traffic.

Haven't changed the tyres yet. I would change them at a priority but not immediately. Need to investigate as which tyre profiles would suite better.

I believe you own a getz, do you understand what "*J" mean?

Yup, I realised when driving KP's Getz recently that the Getz actually behaves much better than the Verna is city traffic.

That denotes that width of the wheel rim (the numeral in inches, so if it says 5J, it means the wheel rim width is 5") while J denotes the type of rim construction.

Drive as per the RPMs. 70 kph is a joke for running in that 110 bhp beast. Maybe if you restrict to second gear, lol

Ok, I have another question - what is the fuel type recommendation for the CRDI ..
The options are Turbojet, Hi Speed and the normal one (diesel).

My Experience so far with Getz CRDi:
IOC Normal diesel - Perfect
Turbo jet - Slightly better performance but it started smoking.
Hi - Speed - Drop in FE.
