Having repeated problems with belt auto-tensioner. Replaced twice and last time bolts also replaced), this is third time. This time after the tensioner failed, the bolt(s) also sheared within another couple of km. This resulted in cutting of the main belt. Alternator, power steering, AC compressor all failed. Lucky I was just parking when it happened. Very difficult to park without the power steering - worse than TATA truck. Absolutely no indication of any abnormal noise indicating tensioner failure this time around.
Car had to be towed. Dealer is also very surprised. Faith in Honda reliability shaken.
Blast your dealer. This was supposed to be solved by a TSB from 2006. Ask him to look up the TSB for the tensioner, order the new part and replace it FOC. If you keep replacing it with the old part number, it will fail again and again.

Wouldn't it void the warranty if don't do it. ? I don't remember service book talking about this 3 month period.
Personally I am not convinced that I need to visit that place every 3 months.
Looks like it is 1yr for Altis.. |
hi there...i own the corolla altis 18. v , yeha you are right about the maintenance schedule for the corolla altis.. the service intervals are 1 year or every 10000km which ever is earlier..
Hey guys, I was trying out some DYI stunts and broke my air intake resonator. How much does this cost? This is the black box in inside the bumper in front of the left wheel well. This helps in getting our cool sound for the revs and to get a flat curve.
If the cost is substantial then I'll go in for a K&N typhoon. How much does this cost? Any known issues due to a change to K&N? Any other suggestions?
I have got it replaced today. The resonator assembly costed just Rs800.
I loved the grunt, till today as the car was breathing more with the resonator broken. I could have left it like that, but the risk of water injestion made me replace this at the earliest.
This resonator assembly gives you the pleasant engine note. And is also a part of the cold air intake line. It is placed in front of the left wheel well so as to have constant cold wind at it.
One question to 2008/2009 civic owners.
Are there air vents under the handbrake and the in the cup holder in front of the hand rest. I see that there is airflow in these two places when blower is in "leg" position.
Just checked in friends 2006 Civic and it ain't there, I was wondering whether this is a feature or a bug :).
Who can tell me what's wrong in this pic? I included a 100% crop just in case.

Peninsular can go to hell.
My take, I could be way off mark, the finish on the hood has more grains than the fender
@Immortalz, 2 things
1. Panel gap is not uniform, its opening a bit wider near the headlight
2. Bonnet seems newly painted (or fender seems a bit faded). Bonnet seems to have attracted some dust while/after painting.
Bonnet is factory paint. It was just washed, clayed, polished and waxed. The little white dots are actually metallic flecks inside the paint. The paint shade is called Misty Violet Pearl y'know.
The fender is one month old paint. Brand new fender, brand new paint. The hood is very smooth to touch while the fender and front bumper (also newly painted) have a rough finished (no polish after painting). Panel gap difference is an optical illusion. The camera and the car's lines are at a very weird angle. I used it to bring out the difference.
Case of wrong paint mix, you will have to redo the painting to correct. Number of pearl and clear coat also.
Dupont mix are very accurate and they do a trial check and give you the final mix. Head out to Shantha paint house, if they still have the automotive paint section.
This was done at the company dealership Jaggu. If I have to give them the paint mix, they've fallen far indeed.

Are you saying that the factory paint job is not satisfactory or is it the workmanship of the service center that you are bringing out here?
And since you say the fender was painted recently, there is also a possiblity of paint sprayed onto the bonnet (due to inadequate covering of the area) while the fender was being painted. My two cents.
Dude, the bonnet looks fabulous. The little specks are multicolored shiny bits. The fender looks like a matte paint.
No point in loosing your kewl, this is the way these dealership works. For them its just another paint job, i have had my fair share of experiences and have learned that for such jobs, its always better to find an independent specialist.
The "multicolored shiny bits" are the ones that make the pain metallic colour.
