My bike's engine keeps running.

Hello there guys,
When I press the clutch of my bike, instead of going dead instantly, the engine of my bike keeps running, and then goes dead after a second or so, which has increased fuel consumption of my bike. I have had the carb cleaned, the accelerator cable rechecked, clutch tightened, and all that I could think of. Could you help me here guys? Thank you.

I don't get it. I've yet to see an engine go dead when the clutch is pressed.

Like SS said, unless you turn off the ingition, stall the bike or run out of gas, there's no other way the engine can stop running.

By pressing the clutch, you're actually reducing the load on the engine, so the chances of it going dead are even less or impossible (if the bike is in good condition).

Wait a sec!!! Did you mean to say that when you press the clutch, the revvs don't drop immediately? If that is the case then your clutch may not be dis-engaging properly. Check your clutch cable.

He said the engine keeps running even when the clutch is pressed so, obvoisly he doesn't have an idling problem.

actually i think he misinterpreted a bit. what he is talking abt is that the engine stops when he presses the clutch
this must happen when he accelerates too much or when the engine becomes hot. well it happened to a CBZ near me. we all thought it was just an empty engine oil container but no.

i guess u must have took ur bike to mechanic for a bit of tuning and he accidently/intentionally tinkered around with the mileage/acceleration switch of the bike. for that reason the engine is getting "OVER" and ur experiencing the problem.

my 2 cents....

It's as clear as that. Now, what i need to know is, what did he want to go dead? the engine or the revvs on the tacho.

The problem isn't the going dead part. He wants it to go dead but, it doesn't when it has to. Now, which part of the bike goes dead when the clutch is pressed? The revvs on the tacho.

Why would someone expect or want the engine to go dead when the clutch is pressed?
