Laura A/c Failure!? Share your Experience!

Any Laura users had faced a problem with their Air Conditioning unit?
The major problems are reported on the A/c Compressor.
My father using a laura ever since w brought the car the a/c is not working! We checked it with the Skoda service centers in Calicut, Cochin, and Coimbatore! For every service when we report the complaint they replace the fiters and other small thing, we were in the warranty period while we report the problem. The car now clocked 90,000 last month when we again tell about the problem they told thye full unit have to be replace, at that time we were out of that warrany period! We got screwed! The a/c became the worst part of the car. Travelling long journies became very hectic! we are forced to change the unit. They told it will cost nearly 45000 including labour. I took the car to a reputed local garage he`s an a/c spacialist. I got the full unit replaced, the original one for 28000/-. Now the a/c is very good conditioning, i must say SUPERB! its working like ever before. "Now i understood our a/c didnt work so far"
After that i dint give my car to any authorised service center. There is no point in doing the service from the company center itself if they have such an attitude towards us, spending more money! God knows what all thay are doing on our car once we left the car for service
After clocking 50,000kms better we take the car to a reputed local garage!
Thats enough!

Thank you!

You waited for 90,000 kms before trying to get the problem fixed?

Glad you got the problem sorted. After market will always be cheaper than authorised.

I included that i tried to fix the problem several times at the company service center! Each time they were telling some other reasons!
What they often said is that the pollen filter was blocked!
and we took a 7500kms clocked car! It was a second hand one!

Ya my Laura is also experiencing some problem with its A/C unit. The unit sometime blow cool air and sometime it blow hot air inspite of Climate control setting. They told me that its A/C fan is not working and since it is in warranty they will replace it free of cost. I am waiting for it to be done Then i am going to see if it makes any difference.

@k_shanz : Did the external garage told you what was the exact problem with the unit?

Do me a favour also, after getting it done by warranty just ask tham how much it will cost for that fan unit! I, too have changed my a/c fan!

Shanz,

Glad the problem is resolved, I feared it will be another long running thread about how bad owing a skoda is

For some reason one of the AC vents in my car stopped blowing any air and I thought something went wrong but luckily it was just the flap which somehow got closed (this was a third layer hard thick flap below 'turnable' top two layers of flaps). Just used a thin rod to turn the flap open and all is well.

Also please share your 90k km ownership experience with us, not many laura owners here with that kind of mileage.

Yup, can pretty much get most of the accesories in the open market which are identical to the real thing.

I had a similar prob with my A/C compressor, Honda asked for 30K, got the same one for 10.8K. Its been working without any issues so far and the cooling is fabulous.

Man i really admire your patience running a premium car for 90,000 kms with a feature as basic as the AC handicapped .

As androdev requested , do put in your 90,000 kms ownership report by the looks of it it will be really interestiing to know about it , especially considering the high mileage .
