But most of the times they arent...understeer really kills my happiness.
That's bcoz you're running on stock setup. The company by default, would have tuned the suspension for understeer.

A custom made suspension with the right tweaks can be setup to create understeer or oversteer.

Ofcourse...modifications can work to some extent...but it will never be able bring a smile on my face like a RWD. Good ol' memories of the gypsy....man those were the days. :)

Do you people think that

An AWD forester will be more entertaining to drive than a Skoda RS which is FWD?

I am not talking about straight line performance but the fun to drive factor here.

Exactly. I'm not surprised that the best driver's car in India is a FWD.

In a recent OD track test the RS cornered with a lateral force of 1.03 Gs!!! The F40 had a lateral grip of 0.94 Gs and the Evo is rated at 0.95 Gs (as much as our 1500 kilo Accord).

I've seen 2ltr Civics beat S2000s on Best Motoring.

And what about the JWRC Suzuki Ignis which was right up there with the Subarus and the Evos.

It's the package that matters and not just the drivetrain.

Hey Shan, there is a difference between a taking the lateral G readings while going around a circuit and the skidpad test which they do their lateral tests on abroad.

The mags abroad drive the car around a circle of a certain diameter, increasing the speed till the car finally loses it. That is the reading they use.

You put an F40 on a track and take its lateral G's, and it will be way higher.

Also, the Ignis never ran iwith the Evo's and Scooby's, but in the Super1600 class, in which it was pretty much theonly competitor.

Why do you feel it'l make a diff? The cambered corners on a track maybe?

Point noted.

There's one test that will put an end to this discussion.........Skoda RS vs Mercedes C200K. They're both 1.8 ltr engines, they both produce around 150bhp and the Merc should have an advantage as it's RWD.

What say mags? How about one of these in your next issue??

Yes. the fist corner at Coimbi had a big positive camber.

Skoda RS vs Mercedes C200K.
Certain members here already put a RS vs 220CDI. The CDI won 80% of the drags.

LOL, with 340nm of torque, that car could stop the earth from turning. Haha

I'm talking about 2 petrol engines of similar CC, similar power output............. around a circuit.

Afterall, the whole discussion is about the handling on Rwds' and Fwds'.

Shan2nu

yeah so wats the answer?

will a chevrolet forester be more entertaining to drive than the RS?

both cost the same so just had a thought.

dont base the judgement on 0-100's but the Fun to drive factor as I said above.

It should'nt make a difference to lateral G's weather its done on a skidpad or an actual racetrack. (assuming no road camber effects)

I saw that Overdrive report and I have a feeling something is wrong with the calibration of their equipment.

What do you mean? They're using Racelogic V-Box II which is the most accurate thing you could buy today.

True. But a race track will ALWAYS have cambered corners.

are there any indian cars that are RWD or are they all FWd ??
